Happy Colors Happy Roses Happy New Year 2007!
January 1st, 2007
What better way to start the NEW Year than with a HAPPY New Introduction to the Flower World! Last year in November I made my Annual trip to Horti-Fair with the Eufloria Flowers Gang to help select the new varieties of Roses for 2007! (more on that later!) and to give a demonstration in the Dutch Creations Booth at the Annual Event at the RAI exhibition hall in Amsterdam! It s always so brilliant to see what new products, flower and foliage varieties this Amazing Show has to offer. In fact I need to Blog about the some of the New Varieties as well So all in good Time! Today I wanted to tell you about this latest creation from Happy Colors A NEW Flower Concept that is turning Heads all over the World! I saw these Roses first at the San Francisco Flower Market in October doing a show for the California Master Florists Program; and then again at Horti-Fair in November
The Happy Colors Process was developed by Peter van de Werken of River Flowers® in the Netherlands The Process is a TOP SECRET form of Systemic Dying of Floral Material To quote from their COLORFUL Brochure: The Flower Changes into a beautiful colour pallet with the controllable build up of various different natural colorants in the stalk. Somehow they are able to get small amounts of the colorant into the stalk of the flower and the colorants affect small portions of the flower to create the rainbow effect. It really is amazing The rose they seem most fond of using is the Vendella Variety and the effect is amazing See for yourself It can be controlled you will see in the photo that several of the flowers include a collection of Yellow,Orange, Blue, Green, Magenta, and Purple while others are just the Warm tones Yellow, Orange, and Magenta and others can be controlled to have just the cool colors.. Blue, Green and Purple They call these Tropical (Warm) and Ocean (Cool) In the Brochure they also show a Christmas Variant that is Green and Red with Glitter The other incredible aspect of this product is that they don t seem to be limited to Roses the brochure shows Spider Mums, Gerbera, Hydrangea, Oriental Lilies, Trachelium, Celosia, and Callas They even show a Pastel version that is lighter and more muted (think Easter Eggs)
I wanted to tell you a little more about this product as it is featured in the First Webisode of 2007 Now I know that dyed Flowers don t appeal to everyone but you have to admit that these roses really get your attention. The Secret process must be pretty time consuming or labor intensive as the price per rose runs approximately 2.50 wholesale and about 9.95 Retail PER FLOWER Number one Freight from Holland is just getting very expensive and the results well they speak for themselves I think this is one of those Fads that could really get some attention from the Youth Catagory I imagine no problem having a Happy Rose Bout or Nosegay for Prom they do get attention and you know how Kids Love that Attention! Happy Colors are avialable from the same company that is bringing in the BLUE dyed Roses featured in the John Henry Wedding Flowers Book and also the Rainbow/Glitter Pompons we are seeing at the Mass Market Level I saw those Gilttered Green Dyed Snowflake Pompons flying out of the Meijer Store here in Michigan with a Great RED Cellophane collar this Christmas mostly kids carrying them Same scenario with the Happy Roses at the Horti-Fair the Student Population of Holland are required to take Horticulture and Floriculture Classes so there are many kids attending Horti-Fair to get class credits or complete school papers or reports They all loved the Happy Roses and it was not uncommon to see these kids (boys and girls) carrying one or more of the Happy Roses while they made their rounds at the Exhibition! And not uncommon to see the display of the roses getting alot of attention from the adults whether it was to say they did or did not approve there was alot of attention. I think these little babies are going to cause a pretty big rucus in the Flower Industry! Either way Happy Roses undoubtedly make people Feel Good Feel Happy! Ta-Dah! J
